MMDA on Red Alert for Super Typhoon Karding
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is on red alert as it braces for the effects of Super Typhoon Karding (International name: Noru).
MMDA Acting Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III monitored the situation in various areas of Metro Manila today at the Metrobase amid the inclement weather to ensure that all CVTVs are working.
According to Dimayuga, the agency is ready to deploy frontline personnel and emergency vehicles to assist the public at the onset of the typhoon in the National Capital Region (NCR).
"I've created Task Force Karding headed by Mr. Aldo Mayor, Chief of MMDA Public Safety Division, which has 50 frontline personnel ready to be deployed any time,” said Dimayuga.
He added that these personnel have with them equipment for Water Rescue, Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR), and 78 Water Purifiers.
Aside from these, all of the 71 pumping stations in Metro Manila are 100% operational to mitigate flooding.
Under the red alert, the agency will implement a "no day off, no leave" policy for its frontline personnel especially those involved in emergency response.
In the latest bulletin from PAGASA, Karding has maintained its strength as it endangers Polillo Islands.
