MMDA, PUP Ink MOA for Employees Scholarship Program

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) today signed a memorandum of agreement offering continuing tertiary education through a scholarship program for qualified employees.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said that the free scholarship program is aimed at providing employees of the agency the opportunity to advance their careers by investing in professional development programs for them.

“The goal of this partnership with PUP is to offer study grants to our employees. Through this program, we can give our employees a chance to continue, sustain, and complete their bachelor’s degrees and further advance their careers in the agency,” Artes said during the virtual ceremonial signing ceremony.

“We urge qualified employees to avail of the program that would help develop their skills and knowledge,” Artes added.

PUP President Dr. Manuel Muhi, for his part, said that the partnership is an avenue of collaboration in sharing and exchanging values and academic programs.

“We are thankful to the MMDA for recognizing the university’s expertise in conducting baccalaureate, post-graduate, and continuing professional development programs. These will contribute to the capability and provision of necessary foundation for further professional education and training of the MMDA employees,” Muhi said.

In order to qualify for the program, employees who are not presently enjoying any form of scholarship or study grant must submit a letter of intent addressed to the MMDA and must present an endorsement letter from the Chairman. There will be a minimum of 45 participants per class for the undergraduate programs.

The MMDA has been offering scholarship grants to qualified employees such as post-graduate studies since 2020.
