MMDA, NCR LGUs Receive Ambulance Donation from Pitmaster Foundation

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) formally accepted the 17 units of ambulances donated by the Pitmaster Foundation, one of the country’s largest charities focused on providing medical, emergency, and crisis relief and assistance, as third part of their commitment to the local chief executives of Metro Manila to complement the national government’s COVID-19 Response Program.

MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, who received the ambulance donation on behalf of the 17 local government units (LGUs) of the National Capital Region (NCR), thanked the Pitmaster Foundation.

“We are very thankful to the Pitmaster Foundation for donating ambulances, equipped with Basic Life Support, which are essential in saving the lives of our kababayans. It will also boost the local governments’ rescue, emergency, and COVID-19 response capabilities,” said Artes during the turnover ceremony held today at the MMDA Auditorium in Makati City.

In a statement read by Pitmaster’s Executive Director Atty. Caroline Cruz, “On behalf of our Chairman, Mr. Charlie “Atong” Ang, we are pleased to distribute 17 units of emergency vehicles to 17 LGUs in Metro Manila, part three of our commitment. The first part was the P50 million for rapid antigen test kits and P50 million in financial assistance to Metro Manila LGUs for mass testing, followed by P20 million in homecare kits.”

“To date, we have distributed a total of 160 units to the various LGUs and medical centers in the country, including at least one for each of the 81 provinces of the country. This is part of our commitment to work with LGUs and the national government to address the gaps in the country’s healthcare sector. This is our contribution to Universal Health Care,” Cruz added.

For his part, Undersecretary Frisco San Juan Jr., MMDA General Manager and concurrent Deputy Chairman, assured that the donations will be distributed properly to each LGU.

“The 17 ambulance units from Pitmaster Foundation will better serve people during these challenging times,” San Juan stressed.

Department of Health-National Capital Region Regional Director Dr. Gloria Balboa and representatives of NCR LGUs were present during the turnover ceremony.
