MMDA, NCR LGUs Receive Home Care Kits from Pitmaster Foundation
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), together with the Pasay City government, received home care kits from Pitmaster Foundation for individuals with mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and undergoing home isolation in the National Capital Region.
MMDA General Manager Romando Artes thanked Pitmaster Foundation, led by Executive Director Atty. Caroline Cruz, for the COVID-19 home care kits donation that followed its P50 million cash assistance and P50 million worth of rapid antigen kits donation for the NCR local government units just last week.
“Metro Manila really needs home care kits for those with mild COVID-19 symptoms but the challenge is the procurement process which takes some time. So we are very thankful for the Pitmaster Foundation for immediately responding when offered assistance,” said Artes during the turnover ceremony held in Pasay City Hall today.
The 40,000 home care kits will be distributed to other 16 local government units of Metro Manila.
Cruz, representing the foundation, said they are relentless in pursuing their mission to serve indigent communities in the country, and the donation is part of their efforts.
“We follow the lead of the LGUs because they know the needs of their constituents. We are here as assistants and helpers of the government,” said Cruz.
The foundation also committed to donating ambulances also for the 17 Metro Manila LGUs.
Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano also expressed her gratitude to the foundation, which will benefit her constituents who have mild cases of the disease and isolating at home.
Right after the donation, Mayor Rubiano visited a house with residents who are in need of the care kit while monitoring their condition at home.
Meanwhile, Department of Health-National Capital Region Regional Director Dr. Gloria Balboa said the kits contain items helpful to persons who are on home quarantine.
“These donations serve as hope and inspiration to people in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Items inside the kit are useful support to those with mild symptoms and who do not need to go to the hospital for treatment,” said Balboa.
Each home care kit includes COVID-19 guide to home quarantine and isolation, alcohol, oral antiseptic, face mask, vitamins, medicines, syrup packet that provides quick relief for itchy throat, and a digital thermometer.
