CLARIFICATORY STATEMENT
Jan. 5, 2022
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) wishes to reiterate that the resolution restricting the movement of unvaccinated individuals in the National Capital Region, after the region was placed under the Alert Level 3 due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the country, was unanimously approved by Metro Manila’s 17 mayors.
One of the staff of the Metro Manila Council Secretariat erroneously reported to MMDA General Manager Romando Artes that one Metro Manila mayor, particularly the local chief executive of Marikina City, did not sign the resolution.
To clarify, Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro withheld to affix his signature on the resolution immediately as he wanted to study its context thoroughly.
Artes said he will take full responsibility for this mistake, ensuring that the agency will disseminate factual and reliable information on the matter.
Further, the resolution unsigned by Mayor Teodoro which the media had did not come from the official platforms of MMDA.
The resolution shall be in force and in effect while the COVID-19 alert level in the NCR is at Alert Level 3 or higher and shall be automatically lifted once Alert Level 2 or lower is declared.
