I-ACT Opens VMMC Gates to Motorists

The government, through the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (i-ACT), will be opening the gates of the Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City to motorists in line with the concerted efforts to improve traffic in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) today announced.
MMDA General Manager Tim Orbos said the agency has already coordinated and secured the approval of the VMMC administration to open up its gates to accommodate motorists traversing North Avenue going to EDSA.
“We got the nod of the VMMC leadership to do this and decongest the traffic, especially this Holiday Season, along North Avenue,” Orbos said.
For her part, Assistant Secretary Cherrie Mercado, spokesperson of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), said I-ACT is grateful for the cooperation of Undersecretary for Reservist Affairs and Acting Director Eduardo del Rosario of the VMMC, supporting the initiative.
For securing the sticker to be able to enter the VMMC premises, motorists will just follow the same procedure as the one being applied to those who want to enter the gates of Camp Aguinaldo and Bonifacion Naval Station, which are both military installations.
As with the two areas, motorists will fill up an application form from the VMMC Security Office and provide their photos and photocopies of their OR/CR of the vehicles for the issuance of the entrance sticker which costs P500.
Private vehicles with the stickers will only be allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday to enter the VMMC main gate along North Avenue, Orbos said.
The vehicles will then exit at the Gate 2 of the medical facility leading to Mindanao Avenue then to their respective destinations.
The i-ACT initially opened Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City and Bonifacio Naval Station in Taguig City in an effort to decongest the streets and main roads within the immediate vicinity.
