14 Injured as Bus Collides With Another Bus on EDSA-Munoz
Fourteen persons were hurt after a passenger bus collided with another bus while speeding along the northbound lane of Edsa on the corner of Munoz Avenue in Quezon City early this morning.
Different rescue teams, including the Road Emergency Group of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), immediately responded to the scene of the accident and assisted the injured passengers.
Nine of the victims came from the Admiral bus while five were on board the Sta. Rita passenger bus.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in the area which captured the incident showed that the Sta.Rita bus tried to beat the red light at the intersection of Edsa and Munoz around 4:30 a.m. when it collided with the Admiral bus, which was then turning right toward Edsa.
One of the buses also slammed into a plant box while the other hit a motorcycle, according to report from Metrobase, MMDA’s monitoring center. The motorcycle rider was unscathed as he managed to jump out of his vehicle.
Some of the victims were rushed by rescue personnel to the Quezon City General Hospital while others were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
