MMDA Launches Pasig River Ferry App
Here’s good news those who want to avoid the daily traffic gridlock in Metro Manila these days.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be launching the Pasig River ferry app on February 9, Tuesday at the MMDA Auditoriun in Makati City.
Harnessing the power of technology, the public can now check the schedule of the Pasig ferry service operations through the app which can be downloaded via their smartphones and Android devices.
With the app, commuters can now check the estimated time of arrival (ETA) and departure (ETD) of the ferries at the 12 stations along the Pasig River.
Aside from the ETA and ETD, passengers can also view the ferry routes and their corresponding fares, vessel and feeds that are generated from the MMDA social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter and Viber.
The app can also provide information such as the nearest ferry stations near the user, a photo gallery, and other MMDA public advisories and announcements.
The MMDA came out with the app, developed by Rising Tide Developers, to encourage more people to patronize the Pasig ferry as an alternative mode of transport especially with the growing concerns on the state of land-based mass transport system.
The agency is currently operating 15 ferries picking up and dropping off passengers at stations in Pinagbuhatan, San Joaquin, and Maybunga in Pasig City; Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati City; Hulo in Mandaluyong City; and Lambingan, Sta. Ana, PUP, Lawton, Escolta and Plaza Mexico in Manila.
