Movie Marathon for MMDA Employees today
Employees of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday were treated to a movie marathon in line with the agency’s 40th founding anniversary.
Over 130 MMDA personnel were ushered into the agency’s theater, which was only inaugurated last year, to view top grossing films of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
MMDA Chairman Emerson Carlos said that though he has been with the agency since 2010, he has yet attended any of the MMFF-related activities.
“Not once did I attend any of the MMFF screenings and press conferences. But today, I’ll make an exception because we are celebrating our 40th anniversary. We are celebrating the 40 years of dedication in government service and hard work of our employees,” Carlos told the MMDA employees inside the theater.
Carlos said MMDA personnel especially those who have been manning the streets and those assigned to the agency’s operating units such as the flood control and solid waste management should relax and watch a flick or two.
One of the featured films at today’s screening is the highly acclaimed Lino Brocka masterpiece, ‘Himala’ (Miracle), starring veteran actress Nora Aunor.
“Kailangan natin ng himala sa ating mga kalsada upang maging disiplinado ang ating mga motorista at mananakay. Kailangan natin ng himala upang mapansin tayo ng publiko sa mga serbisyo na ating ginagawa araw-araw,” Carlos said.
The all-day film showing will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
